Harkaway Hills College Melbourne
PARTNERING WITH PARENTS EDUCATING FOR CHARACTER
Harkaway Hills College is a beautiful new school in Narre Warren North, Victoria. It opened in 2016 with a foundation (prep) and grade 1 class. One additional year level will be introduced each subsequent year (eg: grade 2 in 2017; grade 3 in 2018) until it offers a full F-12 education.
Enrolments for 2017 are open to girls and boys starting Foundation, Grade 1 and Grade 2. Boys will continue at the school until the end of primary – the secondary school will continue as a girls’ school until Year 12, and a boys’ school will open in due course.
What is the PARED model of education?
In 1982, the founders of the PARED schools introduced into Australia a personalised system of education which has been implemented with great success in many schools throughout the world.
Three prominent features characterise the PARED schools:
- The education is personalised: that is, directed towards the whole person, integrating the pursuit of academic excellence, the acquisition of skills and the development of the student’s character.
- A Human Virtues Program is integrated into the curriculum to promote the character development of the students.
- The Personalised Mentoring System, pioneered in Australia by PARED, provides a real and effective mechanism for the cooperation of the school and the family, facilitating the partnership between parents and teachers, and ensuring the children receive a holistic and efficacious education.
