St Joseph – Saint Of The Week

St Joseph

Feast: 19th March and 1st May for St Joseph the Worker

Patronage: Universal Church and of Workers

The loving husband of Mary and earthly father of Jesus. He was a carpenter and a “righteous man” (Matthew 1:18).

He was a father figure to Christ. He was a humble carpenter. He was especially chosen to take Mary as his wife, and be a father for Christ. What an honour and blessing from God!

Saint Bernadette of Siena said, “He was chosen by the eternal Father as the trustworthy guardian and protector of his greatest treasures, namely, his divine Son and Mary, Joseph’s wife. He carried out this vocation with complete fidelity until at last God called him, saying: ‘Good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of your Lord’” (4).

As many of you YCMs know about St Joseph here is a link to a novena to him: http://www.praymorenovenas.com/st-joseph-novena/

It’s a beautiful novena you may wish to add to your family prayer time.
